Pixel Color Wars is a free browser-based multiplayer territory war game. One giant 600×400 pixel map — 240,000 pixels total — is shared by every player on Earth simultaneously. Choose one of 8 rival tribes and tap pixels to conquer territory in real time. No download required. Play instantly on desktop or mobile.
Aggressive attackers who strike fast and hard. Born from the ashes of the old world, they fight with relentless fury and overwhelm enemy borders before a defense can form.
Expansive spreaders who flood blank territory rapidly. Patient as the ocean and unstoppable when they surge, they prioritize raw expansion above all else.
Patient defenders who fortify their borders with extreme care. Their land grows roots; ripping them out takes enormous effort from even the most aggressive tribes.
A balanced tribe of tacticians who blend offense with defense. They adapt to any battlefield condition and are equally comfortable attacking or holding ground.
Focused attackers who hunt specific targets. They operate in the shadows and specialize in dismantling enemy capitals without warning.
Heavy fortifiers who build impenetrable walls of reinforced pixels. Slow to expand but nearly impossible to dislodge once they have settled into position.
High-output attackers who overwhelm by sheer volume. They spray votes across the frontier faster than any other tribe, turning the map red in seconds.
Calculated strategists who balance expansion and reinforcement with precision. Cold, deliberate, and difficult to predict, they outlast opponents through superior planning.
Tap any pixel that borders your tribe's territory. Each tap casts a vote on that pixel. Every 500ms a battle tick fires — whichever tribe cast the most votes on a pixel wins it. You can only tap pixels adjacent to pixels you already own.
Shields let you fortify pixels you already own. Tap one of your own pixels to spend 1 shield and raise its fortification level. A fully fortified pixel requires up to 101 enemy votes to capture. You start with 100 shields and earn more by capturing territory.
You earn coins by tapping blank or enemy pixels. Spend them in the shop on powerful items: Extra Reinforcement (free reinforces for 5 taps), Bomb (claim a radius of blank pixels), Airstrike (strike anywhere on the map regardless of fog), and Max Fort (instantly fully fortify one owned pixel).
Hot zones are glowing bonus areas on the map. Capturing a pixel inside a hot zone auto-claims a splash of nearby blank pixels for your tribe instantly. Hot zones rotate every 60 seconds — a warning banner appears before they move so you can prepare.
Each tribe starts with a capital pixel marked on the map. Capitals always require 5 votes to capture regardless of fortification level. If your capital falls to an enemy, all players are alerted. Defending your capital is a key strategic priority in every round.
You can only see pixels within 12 squares of your territory. The rest of the map is darkened. Use the minimap in the bottom-right corner to track the full battlefield. Airstrikes uniquely bypass fog — they can target any pixel on the full 600x400 map.
One tribe must control all 240,000 pixels to win the round. The war continues until every last pixel belongs to the winning tribe. Once a winner is declared the map resets and war begins again. You can switch tribes between rounds.
Local vs AI runs entirely in your browser with no server required. You fight 7 AI tribes with distinct combat personalities and your progress saves automatically. Online Multiplayer connects you to a shared live map with real players from around the world on a single persistent battlefield.
Yes, Pixel Color Wars is completely free to play in your browser with no download required. Optional coin packs are available to unlock powerful shop items faster, but the full game — including both Local vs AI and Online Multiplayer — is free.
No account is required. You can play as a guest immediately. Creating a free account saves your taps, wins, and badges across sessions and devices so your progress is never lost.
Pixel Color Wars is inspired by collaborative pixel canvas experiments like Reddit's r/Place — a shared canvas where communities compete for territory in real time. Unlike r/Place, Pixel Color Wars is a continuous war: there are no cooldowns, battle ticks happen every 500 milliseconds, fortifications strengthen your borders over time, and each round ends only when a single tribe dominates the entire map. Then the slate is wiped clean and the war begins again.
The game offers two modes. Local vs AI lets you play entirely offline against seven AI tribes, each with distinct personalities — the Scorched attack aggressively, the Mossworn defend patiently, and the Ironclad fortify everything in sight. Online Multiplayer shares one global map with real players simultaneously. Both modes are free and run instantly in any modern browser without installing anything.
